Excelsior Stadium Postponement
[Sunday, 17 January 2016 10:26]
Obviously the officials of Forfar Athletic have every sympathy with supporters who made the trek to Airdrie yesterday only to find that match referee David Munro had deemed the playing surface at the Excelsior unplayable at 1.35p.m.
However no blame could be attached to anyone. The postponement was simply down to what we all know can be the vagaries of the Scottish winter weather.
The 3G surface at Airdrie was in perfect condition in the morning.
However just as ‘Loons’ officials arrived in Lanarkshire at around 12.30p.m. heavy snowfall descended and within the hour a blanket of snow covered the area.
With by this time snow still falling, though perhaps not as heavy the referee on his arrival had no option but to ‘pull the plug’ on the contest.
A new date will be confirmed for the fixture in due course.
