The Forfar Athletic Directors were delighted to confirm after their Board Meeting on Monday night that the club’s longest serving player and fans favourite Martyn Fotheringham has been rewarded with a Testimonial Season in recognition of his service to the Station Park club.
Martyn was signed for the ‘Loons’ in May of 2007 by Jim Moffat following a two season spell at Cowdenbeath,
Prior to that the Blairgowrie based midfielder had worn the colours of Montrose after an eight year spell with St. Johnstone whom he had joined as an ‘S’ signing.
During his time at McDiarmid, he had a five month period on loan up at Glebe Park.
Following the board’s decision, ‘Foxy’ commented “ I am very proud to be awarded this testimonial and be part of this great club. I would like to thank the club for this gesture and I am looking forward to hopefully a successful season ahead.”
Chairman Alastair Donald added “ How unique in a day and age where players move around freely at the end of each season that we should find ourselves recognising Martyn’s great service to this club. I am certain that the fans of Forfar Athletic will take the opportunity to show their gratitude to Martyn during his testimonial season.”
A testimonial committee will be formed to make arrangements for events in the months ahead.
