William Archibald

Many ‘Loons’ fans will have been saddened to hear of the death last weekend of die hard Athies fan ‘Will’ Archibald at the age of 84.
Will was a season ticket holder for quite frankly decades and also travelled all over Scotland with his pal George Davidson following the fortunes of his beloved ‘Loons.’
That apart he was a most willing volunteer especially after his retirement from everyday employment behind the scenes at Station Park.
Will deputised in a very efficient manner providing holiday cover for groundsman duties and you could guarantee that if an appeal went out for volunteers on a Friday night for winter snow clearing, he would be first in line the following morning, shovel in hand.
The sympathies of the Forfar Athletic Directors are extended to Will’s family including son Gordon, who had a spell as Forfar’s back up keeper in the Archie Knox era at this sad time.
The funeral service will take place in St. Margaret’s Church on Friday at 1p.m.
