MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Inverurie Loco Works

The ‘Loons’ progress to stage four of their pre-season fixtures when Highland League outfit Inverurie Loco Works visit Station Park on Saturday afternoon, the kick-off at the normal time of 3p.m.
The Locos were last in town exactly two years ago when the Athies in what was their first outing of that season triumphed to the tune of four goals to one.
Gary Bollan and his staff have expresses their satisfaction in the way pre-season training has progressed to date, allied to the fitness levels and application shown by the squad in the three matches played to date.
The progression towards the opening Betfred Cup joust which is just over a week away continues with the visit of the ‘Locos.’
Gary will welcome back Gavin Swankie to the fold for Saturday’s contest, after he missed the United fixture on Tuesday due to work commitments.
A few of the pool are nursing niggling knocks and these will be assessed before Saturday’s starting eleven is finalised. Again a few of the club’s Development Squad are likely to feature.
The Harlaw Park side now under the joint stewardship of Kenny Coull and Scott Buchan finished sixth in the Highland League last term with fifty-eight points, some thirty-one adrift of champions Cove Rangers.
They have had one outing to date this campaign, a 3-1 win in midweek over Maud Juniors.
There could be at least one familiar face to Forfar fans in their squad, with Martin Bavidge who made 36 appearances in a striking role for the ‘Loons’ back in 2002/3 before a making nearly 300 for Peterhead still plying his trade with Inverurie, though now past his 36th birthday.
Saturday’s match will be refereed by local Grade Two official Chris Fordyce.
Admission prices are £6 for adults, £3 concessions, with season tickets valid.
The 1984 Lounge a the ground will be open from 1.30p.m. till kick-off and again on the final whistle for approximately 45/60 minutes, with all supporters welcome.
