Summary – The ‘Loons’ make their first visit to Dumbarton since the spring of 2012 on Saturday to meet a home side who began their league campaign with a 2-0 win away to East Fife last Saturday.
All connected with the Station Park club right down to the youngest fan was left reeling with the late collapse which saw Airdrie head back west with a three point haul last weekend, but that will be put well to the back of the minds of the players prior to kick-off on Saturday. Gary Fraser ruled out with a neck injury last weekend is back in full training, but Darren Whyte is still unlikely to feature, while Andy Munro serves the second and final game of his suspension carried forward from last term. Matthew Aitken looks likely to be sidelined for some time sadly. Lewis Moore and Aidan Wilson signed on loan late last week from Hearts and Rangers respectively will have had another week to get to know their colleagues in training and both look likely to again feature in Jim Weir’s starting line-up.
There will be one particularly familiar face in the ‘Sons’ side, Grant Adam having been one of manager Stevie Aitken’s eleven summer signings as he re-shaped his squad following the heartbreak of losing out to Alloa Athletic in extra time in the Championship play-off final in late May.
Match Officials – Referee – David Munro Assistants – Gary Hilland & Willie Ferguson
