Irn Bru Cup First Round
Venue – Tony Macaroni Stadium
Date – Tuesday August 21st
Admission - FREE
Summary/Team News – Livingston’s young ‘guns’ and the ‘Loons’ will go head to head at Livingston for the second Tuesday running in an attempt to reach the second round of the Irn Bru Cup after last week’s game was abandoned in the 71st minute as darkness fell and power could not be restored to the stadium following a surge in a nearby substation just prior to the kick-off.
At that juncture the home side were deservedly one nil up, so the visitors have been warned!
Both teams are likely to be along the same lines as last Tuesday, although Forfar may have Aidan Wilson available to them as he was not in fact cup tied in Rangers Colts defeat from Falkirk. Lewis Moore did however participate for parent club Hearts against Ross County.
As has been well documented a trip to meet League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers now awaits the winners in round two of the competition.
Match Officials – Referee – David Dickinson Assistants – Graham Chambers & Daniel Graves
Supporters Information – A reminder that both clubs agreed in the circumstances to free admission at the re-arranged fixture.
There are three important changes to the rules of this tournament this season. Firstly the Colts sides are now Under 21 instead of Under 20, with two over age players permitted in the starting line-up. Secondly right up to and including the quarter finals, there is no extra time if the scores are level after ninety minutes. It is simply a case of straight to a penalty shoot-out. Finally at the second round stage, two English National League sides Boreham Wood and Sutton Unitedwill participate in the competition for the first time.
