Summary – It does not get any easier for Jim Weir and his players with one of the country’s form sides due to visit Station Park on Saturday as the first quarter of the league campaign comes to a conclusion.
East Fife have won their last five competitive fixtures, four in the league and one in the Irn Bru Cup, conceding only two goals in the process. Their latest victory came at home to Stenhousemuir last weekend, super sub Rory Currie the Hearts loanee again on the score sheet in a 2-0 success.
The ‘Loons’ would appear to have a few selection headaches ahead of the contest. Skipper Michael Travis is unavailable while Andy Munro injured at Links Park last Saturday will require a late check to ascertain his fitness. Word is awaited from his parent club Hearts as to whether Lewis Moore an absentee over the past two weeks has recovered and proved his fitness to the Tynecastle medical team.
The Athies have just completed a run of three local derbies amassing only two points in the process. However in the first half at Gayfield and at Links Park as well as in the final thirty minutes at home to Brechin they have played some excellent football and in the latter two instances dominated proceedings during those spells.
All involved at Station Park can only hope that this standard of performance can be attained over a ninety minute period starting with the visit of Darren Young’s ‘troops’ on Saturday
