Summary – At the end of a long hard season and only just over 72 hours after the final whistle sounded at Bayview, the ‘Loons’ head into playoff action at Starks Park on Tuesday night against Raith Rovers
Three points finally separated the sides after the Athies win over East Fife and Rovers draw at Montrose on Saturday past, results which saw Forfar clinch second spot, at the end of the day only seven points adrift of champions Arbroath.
Manager Jim Weir would again Cedwyn Scott apart appear to have a fully fit squad to choose from with no injury worries to report following the Methil clash which saw victory attained courtesy of goals from the returning Murray Mackintosh, Dylan Easton and Dale Hilson.
Raith manager John McGlynn took the opportunity to rest a few players on Saturday past notably striker Kevin Nisbet and there is little doubt that their full-time status does give the Kirkcaldy side a slight advantage going into a doubleheader of this nature.
However the last three fixtures between the sides this season have been very tight and hard-fought affairs with the ‘Loons’ unbeaten in all three.
Manager Jim Weir has emphasised already in the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s contest how important it will be to still be ‘in the tie’ come the final whistle tomorrow night and that will be the first aim of Michael Travis and his colleagues.
The away support over in Fife on Saturday past was once again outstanding both in numbers and their backing and hopefully given the subsidised coach travel made available and the reduced admission prices it will be more of the same come 7.45 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
C’mon the ‘Loons’
