Just 49 days since Forfar Athletic last trod the Station Park ‘boards’, Jim Weir’s ‘troops’ are back in action this Saturday in the first of three pre-season friendly fixtures prior to their opening Betfred tie against Brechin City on the 13th of July.
Stevie Crawford who had a short spell with the ‘Loons’ in the twilight of his career brings his new look Dunfermline side to Station Park for what is also the ‘Pars’ first work out of the new campaign.
The home side goes into the game on the back of five training sessions in which the players have looked in great condition and certainly displaying an eagerness to face the challenges ahead.
Jim has all seventeen signed players available for the game including the seven new faces namely Sean Burns, Mark Docherty, Ross Forbes, Andy Jackson, Jordan Kirkpatrick, Scott Robertson and Callum Tapping.
All are expected to feature at some point over the ninety minutes.
The ‘Pars’ having been in the promotion frame for a large part of last season fell away in the latter stages eventually finishing seventh in the table. Hence the reason that the East End Park management team have brought in ten new signings to date in a busy summer.
They include prolific scorer Kevin Nisbet from Raith Rovers, a thorn in the flesh of the Athies last term and defensive colleague Euan Murray, as well as two promising youngsters from south of the border, Josh Coley on loan from Norwich City and Gabby McGill, snapped upon his release from Middlesbrough.
