Summary – Clyde following their promotion a the end of last season through the play-off route, pay their first visit this Saturday to Station Park since April of 2017.
They will certainly arrive in fine fettle following a 1-0 home win last Saturday over promotion favourites Falkirk courtesy of a Mark Lamont goal in the 34th minute before a staggering crowd of over 2,400.
In contrast, the ‘Loons’ lost their first league game of the season with an unconvincing display up at Peterhead, taking their winless run to three in cup and league jousts.
However no one at Station Park especially Jim Weir and his management team are in danger of pressing any panic buttons and with four home games out of the next five league fixtures, there is a golden opportunity to get back on track and cement a position heading into late autumn in the top echelons of the table.
Hopefully, the Athies squad for Saturday’s visit of the ‘Bully Wee’ will be augmented by the return from injury of Darren Whyte, while newcomer Rory Currie goes straight into the squad for the game and could well be handed a starting berth.
Certainly the manager will be looking for a little more sharpness from all quarters after he stated that he was less than impressed by the flatness of last Saturday’s showing.
Clyde manager Danny Lennon made seven summer signings, three of them, in fact, entering the fray from the bench against Ray McKinnon’s side last weekend and despite away defeats at Raith and Airdrie, he must be reasonably satisfied with the season to date.
Their line is led by former Dundee United stalwart David Goodwillie and is certain to provide another stiff examination for the home side.
