Summary – Forfar Athletic return to league action on Tuesday evening following their exit from the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday past with a visit to Raith Rovers who currently sit second in the league table.
Earlier in the campaign at Station Park, Rovers ‘escaped’ with all three points courtesy of a Keiran MacDonald header deep into added on time. The ‘Loons’ had in fact taken the lead on the stroke of half time courtesy of a cracking goal from debutant Russell McLean, Lewis Vaughan netting the equaliser six minutes into the second period, just minutes before injury struck yet again for the luckless Raith striker.
Stuart Malcolm’s side will go into tomorrow night’s contest hopefully buoyed by a performance that at times on Saturday was pleasing to the eye but sadly reaped no reward.
Callum Tapping took a knock late in the contest against the ‘Sons’ but hopefully will be fit, while Russell McLean returns to the squad. Rory Currie and Archie MacPhee are ruled out through injury.
Rovers can go back to top spot with a victory on Tuesday night.
On Saturday past a Kieron Bowie goal in the third minute proved to be the only goal of the contest in their Scottish tie with Peterhead, this success coming hard on the heels of their 3-2 Tunnocks Cup quarter-final win over Elgin City.
They will go into the clash with the Athies minus the services of Iain Davidson and Brad Spencer through suspension.
A hard task certainly awaits the ‘Loons’ as they attempt to end a run of six straight league defeats, but there is little doubt that Stuart and his coaching staff will have the squad well prepared and up for the battle ahead.
