Summary – The ‘Loons’ head into the three most vital games of the season to date beginning on Saturday when Clyde visit Station Park.
The ‘Bully Wee’ due to meet Celtic in a televised high profile cup tie on Sunday week arrive in Forfar sitting six points and two places above the Athies in the league table. Then on the following two weekends, Stuart Malcolm’s new-look outfit are due to face the team currently sitting one place above them in the league table Peterhead, followed by a visit from the bottom side at present Stranraer.
Many of the home support and despite last Saturday’s result at Falkirk, let’s hope as they always do the faithful stick by their side, will be scrambling no doubt for a team line on Saturday with a potential at present six January signings in the squad, with only George Stanger having trodden the Station Park ‘boards’ in a sky blue shirt to date.
Inline for a home debut either in the starting line-up or from the bench are Bobby Barr, BJ Coll, Steven Doris, Robbie Leitch and Ryan Shanley.
On the injury front, Connor Coupe is a doubt.
Clyde recorded a 2-1 home win over East Fife last Saturday, one of their two ‘window’ signings Tom Lang from Dunfermline netting the late winner.
The Broadwood side’s other recent capture was the experienced Greg Wylde from Livingston, but the undoubted star man in the visitors' ranks is striker David Goodwillie who last week netted his 22nd goal in 24 competitive appearances to date this term.
David was an absentee through illness when the sides fought out their second goalless draw of the campaign on a day of torrential rain and high winds at Cumbernauld in December.
No one can criticise the Station Park management team for lack of activity during the January window in an attempt to freshen up the squad and get back to winning ways and there is still an outside chance of a further addition before the midnight deadline.
Hopefully, the new-look side will gel quickly and certainly, the atmosphere was buzzing at training on Thursday evening and the so vital job of points accumulation in an attempt to secure League One survival can begin in earnest.
C’way the ‘Loons.’
