Summary – Forfar Athletic and Peterhead go head to head at the Balmoor Stadium on Saturday in what is another ‘six-pointer for both sides.
The Blue Toon outfit currently sit three points ahead of the ‘Loons’ at the wrong end of the table and both will, without doubt, be looking for a win in what could well be a crucial month of the campaign.
Stuart Malcolm’s charges will head north in good heart following their excellent victory over Clyde last weekend and with a re-shaped and going by last Saturday’s performance a revitalised side into the bargain, there is no reason why they cannot return with a three-point ‘haul’ quite appropriate for a visit to Scotland’s fishing heartland.
The Athies management are unlikely to make many if any changes to last week’s successful starting line-up.
George Stanger is again ruled out, though he is due to start training with parent club Hamilton Accies over the weekend. Connor Coupe, however, is now fully fit and returns to the squad.
The new faces seemed to give the whole ‘Loons’ team energy that perhaps has been missing on occasion in the encounter against the ‘Bully Wee’ and hopefully that momentum can be carried forward into Saturday’s encounter.
Home manager Jim McInally who lost talisman striker Rory McAllister to Cove Rangers for a substantial five-figure fee in January made three ‘window’ signings namely Andy McCarthy from Queen of the South, Alan Cook from Stenhousemuir and Steven Boyd from East Fife and all were in the starting line-up at Links Park last Saturday.
They lost that game 4-3 this after having defeated Dumbarton the previous week on home soil courtesy of a Ben Armour 82nd minute strike.
To date this season, both sides have clinched victory by a single goal margin on their own patch and there is every reason to suggest that Saturday’s contest will be equally as tight.
Into the bargain hopefully, the current weather forecast is correct and the predicted gale force winds, especially in coastal areas, do not hit the North East till Saturday night.
