Peterhead v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Friday, 27 November 2020 11:16]
The ‘Loons’ still looking for their first victory of the season head north to Peterhead on Saturday on what is matchday six of the SPFL League One campaign.
One thing is for certain. Manager Stuart Malcolm and his coaching staff will be looking for a brighter start to proceedings after last week’s lethargic opening twenty minutes against Airdrie which saw their side quickly two goals in arrears in what consequently turned out to be a losing battle.
Young central defender Sam Fisher is a doubt for the game but that apart the remainder of the twenty man squad that featured on the team sheet for the visit of the ‘Diamonds’ took part in a full training session on Thursday evening.
However, it is likely that the manager may be contemplating a few changes to his starting eleven.
A bonus on the injury front has come with the news that Steven Anderson and Steven Doris are almost at the stage of commencing full training.
Jim McInally’s ‘Blue Toon’ outfit have won two of their five league outings, including a 1-0 home win over Dumbarton last week courtesy of a Ben Armour fifth minute counter.
They also came within a whisker of qualifying for the second round stage of the Betfred Cup, their campaign in that competition including an excellent 1-0 success at Tannadice.
However, all connected with the Athies will realise the importance of not getting stranded at the bottom of the table in this shorter than normal and very surreal season and it is vital that some reward is secured from two consecutive away games, a visit to Clyde on the card for a week on Saturday prior to a visit from Partick Thistle on December 12th.
Chris Graham is the man in the middle at Balmoor.
