The ‘Loons’ will be heading to Pitmedden in Aberdeenshire to face Formartine United in the second round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday, October 23rd.
This follows the Highland League side’s highly impressive 5-1 first-round replay victory over Cumnock Juniors in South Ayrshire yesterday, following a 2-2 draw at North Lodge Park last weekend.
The paths of the two clubs have crossed only once before in the Scottish Cup. That was back in November of 2017 when Formartine scored the only goal of the game on their home patch on a bitterly cold and frustrating afternoon for all connected with the Station Park outfit.
Since then we have met them in a pre-season fixture in July of 2018 and also in August of this year at Station Park in the SPFL Trust Trophy when a goal from Matty Aitken in the 12th minute of the tie secured victory and a second-round berth for the home side.
