PREVIEW
There is not a lot more that can be said about tomorrow’s play-off semi final second leg that was not said only four days back in the preview for the first leg at Galabank, apart from the obvious fact that it is the most important game this season for both clubs, with only one able to go on to two even more important fixtures next week.
Annan go in to the game a goal up having recorded their first win in five attempts against the Athies on Tuesday evening, courtesy of Michael Garrity’s first half counter, but the ‘Loons’ are still very much in contest and will take heart from their first half demolition job on their opponents at the same venue only three weeks back.
However tomorrow’s clash will be a different ‘kettle of fish’ and who wins the battle of the early stages of the contest could be a vital factor in the eventual outcome.
Both Gary Irvine and his counterpart Peter Murphy will have similar squads to choose from on the day, with no major injury worries reported from either camp after the first leg.
Gary did make four second half substitutions on Tuesday evening to try to claw back that one goal advantage and he may take the option of a change or two to his starting line up come 3p.m. Saturday.
Whatever happens as has been said before, as life itself has returned to some degree of normality as the current season has progressed, Forfar fans should be proud of the efforts of the management team and players throughout the campaign which all wish still has three games to run.
Hopefully they will make the effort to turn out in respectable numbers to give Ross Meechan and his team mates their backing on Saturday afternoon.
Premiership official Steven Kirkland will be the man in charge of proceedings.
A reminder that tomorrow’s contest will be played to a finish with extra-time and penalties utilised if required to find a winner.
Both sets of supporters are also reminded that the two legs of the final will be staged on Tuesday 10th and Friday 13thMay with the kick-off on both occasions 7.30p.m. not the normal 7.45p.m.
