PREVIEW
East Fife are the visitors to Station Park on Saturday as the second quarter of the league campaign gets underway.
The Fifers head to Station Park with Greig McDonald in caretaker charge following the departure of Stevie Crawford to Dundee United two weeks back.
On the home front the ‘Loons’ go into the contest heartened no doubt by the improved display against Dumbarton last Saturday, but knowing that consistency of performance is vital if a move of some note up the league standings is to be achieved.
Thankfully no further major injury woes seem to have hit the squad in the wake of the clash with the ‘Sons’ but it is unlikely that any of the seven walking wounded who missed out last week will be fully fit by 3p.m. on Saturday.
However at least a couple managed to put in a spot of light training on Thursday evening and they will continue to be assessed.
Gary Irvine snapped up three new faces on the eve of the Dumbarton clash, just as the temporary transfer window was about to slam shut till January.
Consequently Mark Docherty and Spencer Moreland played the full ninety minutes, while Bobby Dailly made an appearance as a late substitute.
All three will obviously feature once again in the match day squad for tomorrow’s contest.
The visitors currently occupy fifth position in the league table with eleven points, having lost out last Saturday 2-1 at home to Stirling Albion.
The Methil side’s goal last week came from the penalty spot scored by summer signing Alan Trouten and it was of course a similar heart breaking situation that saw the ‘Loons’ lose at Bayview in the dying embers of the first contest of the season between the sides in mid August.
A familiar and welcome face in the visiting ranks will be Scott Shepherd, the Perth based forward having spent the previous two seasons as a member of the Station Park squad.
The support that the home players received from the stand and terracing last week was ‘top drawer’ and hopefully a repeat performance both on and off the park tomorrow will reap a three point reward.
The referee for Saturday’s encounter is Jordan Curran who will be taking charge of a Forfar fixture for the first time.
C’mon the ‘Loons.’
