PREVIEW
Like his players, ‘Loons’ manager Ray McKinnon cannot wait to get back into competitive action tomorrow when second in the table Stirling Albion provide the opposition at Station Park.
In fact Ray is relishing the challenge of three games within a week with the away fixture at Bonnyrigg sandwiched in between the visit of Albion and the trip to Methil a week on Saturday.
Naturally the aim for the three game schedule beginning tomorrow is to pick up as many points as possible and build on the recent five game unbeaten run.
Before moving on to look at tomorrow’s fixture in a little detail, Ray was like all connected with the club was so disappointed when the Bonnyrigg fixture ‘bit the dust’ last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch acknowledging the efforts that had been put in advance to ensure such a large travelling support were due to make the journey south on the day.
The manager is under no illusion that tomorrow’s visit of the ‘Binos’ will provide one of the biggest tests that his players have faced this calendar year.
Darren Young’s side are second in the table for a reason, having turned in consistent performances throughout the season and like the home side are unbeaten in five.
Ray hopes to have a near full squad available for the game and those in the home ranks will be well fired up to hopefully avenge the 4-1 defeat inflicted by the Forthbank outfit on their last visit to the ‘toonie’ in September.
Stirling will have one noticeable absentee in their ranks with goalkeeper Blair Currie suspended following his dismissal in the 2-2 draw at Annan last Saturday.
Former Bonnyrigg custodian Mark Weir came off the bench to replace him at Galabank and is likely to retain his place between the sticks.
As has been mentioned earlier in the week home officials are hoping for an increased turnout of supporters with the weather forecast reasonable for the time of the year, to give their backing and be a twelfth man on the day.
Calum Scott is Saturday’s man in the middle.
C’mon the ‘Loons’
