Bonnyrigg Rose v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Monday, 27 February 2023 15:43]
The ‘Loons’ players will return to action on Tuesday evening when they head to New Dundas Park to face Bonnyrigg Rose in the fixture postponed a week past Saturday.
It is the first of three consecutive away games for the Athies and after two successive drawn fixtures on home ‘soil’ they will keen to return to winning ways against the side who currently sit four points adrift at the foot of the cinch league2 table.
A victory over Robbie Horn’s outfit could also see the visitors move back into a top four berth, but that would depend on the outcome of the only other game on the card tomorrow evening Dumbarton playing host to Stenhousemuir.
It was certainly a hard won point that Craig Slater and his colleagues picked up at Station Park on Saturday past, second in the table Stirling Albion dominating the first period especially.
However the ‘Loons’ hung in during that first 45 and were without doubt more in the contest in a very competitive second half.
Manager Ray McKinnon is likely to have a similar squad to choose from in Midlothian tomorrow evening, frustrated as he is by the niggling injury problems that see one or two still potentially sidelined.
Bonnyrigg go into the contest on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Stenhousemuir, courtesy of a second half Matty Yates counter.
The Rose will be forced into at least one change with Dean Brett suspended after his red card against the ‘Warriors.’
Bonnyrigg have picked up four points from the two clashes between the sides to date in their debut season at this level, all the more of an incentive to the visiting players on the night to record a first ever victory against the team who lifted last season’s Lowland League title with a bit to spare.
Colin Whyte who was due to be the man in the middle on the 18th is the appointed referee again for Tuesday’s clash, the first time he will have handled a Forfar Athletic fixture.
Kick-off is a the normal midweek time of 7.45p.m.
