A Warm Welcome Back Awaits
[Monday, 22 January 2024 10:57]
As the dust settles and a new working week for many beckons, the heroic efforts of the Forfar Athletic players in Saturday’s cup tie with Hibernian will also soon become a distant if still very pleasant memory.
The football season though continues apace and for the ‘Loons’ management and players there are still sixteen ‘cup finals’ to come in the shape of cinch league2 fixtures.
Two of those fixtures against the newest ‘kids on the block’ in the SPFL Bonnyrigg Rose and Spartans will take place at Station Park over the next two Saturday afternoons.
Victory in both would see the home side move well clear of the dreaded ‘club 42’ spot at the bottom of the table and on the evidence of recent weeks including Saturday past that is far from impossible.
The Hibs fixture saw the ‘Loons’ backed by a staggering 1,300 fans on the day, around 850 more than regularly turn up in all weathers for league encounters.
We trust that the vast majority if not all enjoyed what they saw on Saturday past, so just a wee plea from club officials.
We cannot expect all 850 of you who made the effort to travel from near and in some cases far for the cup tie to appear en mass over the next two Saturdays, but what a fillip it would give the players in particular if even 100 of those extra supporters were to be inside Station Park come 3p.m. over the next few games.
Please, please give it some thought.
We cannot guarantee the same atmosphere as Saturday past or the same big occasion feeling, but we can guarantee that the players who pull on those navy shirts on each occasion will be giving 100 per cent commitment as they did on Saturday for the ‘Loons’ cause.
Thanks again to all for the magnificent support on Saturday past and rest assured the welcome back mat awaits!
