PREVIEW
Stranraer are the visitors to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday, arriving on the back of recording their first league victory of the season courtesy of two Mark Wilson goals against East Fife at Stair Park last weekend.
The home side go into the contest propping up the league table and still looking for that elusive first three point haul of the campaign.
For long spells of last Saturday’s contest against Spartans in the Capital City that win looked a distinct possibility as the Athies had the better of the contest for lengthy periods, sadly squandering a handful of goal scoring opportunities.
All this before substitute Keiran Watson struck the sucker punch in the dying embers of the contest.
No more excuses however and the Station Park squad have been approaching Saturday’s contest in a positive manner throughout the week.
Manager Ray McKinnon and his players are convinced that a league win is definitely on the horizon. Ray is desperate for his side to get that first all important goal against Stranraer tomorrow are as all ‘Loons’ supporters and with the shackles loosened feels match day momentum would build from there.
The manager added to his squad on the eve of the Spartans match and the experienced Brad Rodden had an impressive debut at Ainslie Park working well alongside his new colleagues up front, while Rayan Mohammed made a cameo appearance late in the day.
The Dundee youngster though will again provide options for the management team going forward in the striking department.
On the injury front Ross McLean and Bayley Klimionek will face match day checks, having missed out last Saturday.
The visitors arrive in Forfar with Scott Robertson currently in temporary charge until at least early October following the departure of Scott Agnew earlier in the month and he will welcome back former ‘Loon’ Tomas Brindley as a defensive option after he missed the win over the Fifers through injury.
The Athies were undefeated in four outings against Stranraer last term, winning one home and one away, the other two contests ending in a share of the spoils.
Daniel Graves who took charge of our Trust Trophy fixture up north last month is the again the man in the middle.
C’mon the ‘Loons’
