Forfar Athletic v Stranraer – Match Information
[Tuesday, 21 January 2025 21:36]
Forfar Athletic return to William Hill League2 duty on Saturday first when Stranraer are the visitors to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park.
The importance of the fixture for both sides is obvious to all not least the home management team, players and supporters. A win for the ‘Loons’ would see them move level on points at the wrong end of the table with Saturday’s opponents, if a victory could be achieved by two goals or more then we would move above the Stair Park outfit on goal difference.
This is of course the first of two clashes with Chris Aitken’s side that are on the horizon. The sides will meet again on Tuesday 4th February down in Wigtownshire, the game having been postponed back in early December due to high winds in the area.
Jim Weir and his players go into the game following a disappointing performance in the cup at Cove on Saturday past. It was all the more disappointing because of the fantastic away support at the Balmoral Stadium, well in excess of 200 on the day in a total attendance of 578.
That level of support was so appreciated by all and every effort will be made this Saturday to repay the faith that the Forfar Athletic fan base are showing at present in the ‘Loons’ cause.
Jim Weir is hopeful Craig Slater and Russell McLean will recover from the injuries sustained in the Elgin fixture prior to kick-off on Saturday and he also hopes to have another new face or two in the ranks into the bargain. More news on that front as the week progresses.
The match on Saturday will have the usual 3pm. kick-off.
