The Cooperative Insurance Cup Family Funday
[Friday, 09 July 2010 01:00]
Following on from last season’s success in attracting more children and families to attend games in the First Round of The Co-operative Insurance Cup, where The Scottish Football League reported a 55% increase in match attendances, clubs are supporting the initiative again during the 2010/11 season.
The Co-operative Insurance Cup First Round ties will take place on Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August 2010 and, in addition to the matches themselves, will consist of the following activity:
- Children and young people aged 16 and under will be admitted free of charge to games provided they are accompanied by one paying adult (maximum ratio of 6 children to 1 adult).
- Club community coaches will provide a fun football coaching session for a minimum of 20 children pre-match. Competitions to win these places will appear in the local press.
- 200 football skills posters developed by Billy Stark, the SFA’s Under 21/Youth Teams National Coach, will be supplied to clubs to hand out to children attending games.
- Mini footballs for the first 50 children to arrive at each match
- A half-time 10 second challenge between club youth teams.
Competitions will also run in the local press to find mascots and there will also be opportunities to win match tickets.
