The Loons travelled to Hamilton with the bonus of Josh Skelly returning to the match day squad looking for their first league win of the season against a Clyde team who similarly were in search of the so far elusive 3 points to kick start their campaign.
Forfar started the better of the two teams creating the best chances in the opening 45 minutes but neither team could find the opening goal.
Andy Munro’s header in the 12th minute from a Stuart Morrison free kick which picked out Roberto Nditi who headed back across to Munro, his header just over the bar. Josh Skelly then had a shot blocked only two minutes later from the centre of the box, all encouraging signs for the large travelling support who had made their way to New Douglas Park.
Following good link up play on from Cameron Ferguson, Seb Ross and Callum Moore, Moore found himself in a bit of space on the edge of the box but he dragged his shot wide without troubling the Clyde keeper 34 minutes in. As much as Forfar pressed for the opening goal it just wasn’t happening for them in the final third however they weren’t really troubled by their hosts in opening 45 minutes.
Second half Clyde carried a bit more threat catching the Loons on the break a few times and had a wonderful chance to take the lead on 60 minutes. Euan Cameron forcing Marc McCallum to make an important save. It was end to end stuff during this period of play and Josh Skelly had Forfar’s best chance when he was played through down the right cutting in beating the defender however he shot was well saved by Leighfield in the Clyde goal with his outstretched leg.
Clyde found themselves with a 3 on 2 situation after a loose Forfar pass whilst attacking allowed them to break away however the solid Forfar defence which has been a standout feature this season managed to thwart any danger.
On the 70 minute mark Loons boss Ray McKinnon brought on fresh legs with Whatley and Ferguson being replaced by Hutchinson and Watson as the Loons continued to push for the opener. Paterson came on for Ross on 79 minutes.
Stuart Morrison had another standout game at the heart of the defence and how the Loons fans would have loved to see him replicate last weeks goal in the final few minutes when Adam Hutchinson won a free kick in the Clyde half. With a packed penalty box the ball was floated in but to no avail and the referee blew his fulltime whistle.
Fulltime Clyde FC 0-0 Forfar Athletic FC.
