Forfar Athletic FC in the Community - 2016 Golf Day
The Golf Day which was originally established by local golfing legends Neill & Ron Wilson will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and is due to take place at Forfar Golf Club on Friday 19th August.
Last year the overall winner was team Kingennie Holdings (pictured above) comprising Doug Bett, Brian Binnie, Scott Jarron & Donald Smith. On the individual prize front the clubs Coaching Staff was ‘to the fore’ with Ian Flaherty showing an all round sporting prowess by picking up three individual prizes.
Teams of four are invited to take part in a two scores per hole Stableford format with team prizes on offer through to sixth place along with numerous individual prizes available throughout the round. Forfar Golf Club has kindly made available tee times 1000 hours through till 1430 hours so early or later starting times can be accommodated. The event was virtually fully subscribed last year and already the majority of last year’s teams have signed up to come back again this year. The package offers:- tea/ coffee and rolls on arrival, an on course watering hole operated by the other Forfar FC stalwart Dave McGregor, a three course meal with wine, a team photograph, use of a professional club cleaner, the chance to win a car for a hole in one plus the other prizes mentioned above.
The event operates on the normal Forfar Athletic policy of enjoying yourselves and over the years has been blessed with a course in excellent condition and in the main good golfing weather. All in all excellent value at £90 a head.
The event is well supported year on year and the Club is indebted to local businesses and individuals for their involvement whether playing or taking up on course Advertising. Advertising packages are on offer from £50 up to £500 which in turn provides very good exposure to a playing field of over 100.
