Of The Loons
The new FAFC Retail Shop opened its door for the first time on Friday 24 June and everyone involved in the project is delighted by the very favourable response of supporters to the new premises and the merchandise.
After many years under the excellent management of Cameron Davidson a new team of volunteers has taken over the retail reins and Ash, Lesa and Louise would like to encourage as many supporters as possible to pop in for a browse (and to make a purchase!). The shop is still conveniently located beside the main turnstiles and will be open on match days and on other occasions. where possible. The shop is well signposted from the far end of the ground so no excuse for anyone not to drop by!
The man of the moment - Dennis Fenton, Vice-Chairman
The shop stocks the new home replica kit as well as the current away kit along with an extensive range of Forfar Athletic merchandise including mugs, coasters, pens, pencils, key-rings, footballs, car stickers, holdalls, golf balls, jute shopping bags, teddy bears, FAFC bugs, pennants, badges, wristbands, sports bottles, throws/picnic rugs and boot-bags to name a number of the items on sale.
The clothing line contains a number of different hoodie / zoodie, polo-shirt and t-shirt designs with different FAFC and '84 legends retro branding as well as the traditional FAFC badge. Looking ahead to the cold winter days - some way off hopefully - the shop has a range of hats and scarves in new colour combinations as well as the usual stripes and Loons designs. The shop also stocks touchscreen gloves so you can keep up to date with what’s going on around the grounds without your hands freezing in the depths of winter.
The retail team hopes to extend the range and to take on board (within reason!) ideas from supporters. They are certainly happy to take clothing orders for specific sizes and colours where possible and while you might not see exactly what you like they will do their best to find you the right piece of FAFC branded clothing. In the coming weeks the items will be displayed on this website and Facebook along with prices to allow supporters who are unable to get to Station Park to place orders online. We can accept payment by credit card which will make the shopping experience relatively painless!
One item which is now on hold are the wonderful handcrafted Baxter the Bridie replicas which have been made locally by a group of friends of the club. These mini non-edible delights really caught the eye of the early customers and sold out even before the end of the launch night. The good news is that another batch of Baxters will be 'baked' and available by the end of August. We also hope to start a fun challenge to all those that purchase a Bridie to send us postcards and photos of your mini Baxter in interesting and perhaps exotic locations around the globe with small prizes for the best ones. We will announce more about this in the near future.
Mini Handcrafted Baxter the Bridie - proved popular on launch night and sold out

Amazingly work only began on the new shop at the end of the last season but thanks to the watchful eye and hard work of Vice-Chairman Dennis Fenton the premises started to take shape pretty quickly and it soon became clear that the ambitious deadline could be met to have the shop open for the new kit and mascot event last Friday. Dennis is to be given huge thanks for keeping the project moving forward and for rolling his sleeves up to undertake many of the tasks himself! No request from the retail team was too much trouble for Dennis.
As previously reported the new porta-cabin was donated by Mark and Robin Guild of local building firm Guild Homes who also assisted in demolishing the old turnstile block. Sincere thanks to them and to Geddes of Swirlburn who transported and located the new unit into the Park, G.R.C. Skip Hire for the removal of the rubble, Jamie Milne Electrical for the necessary wiring, Gary Balfour for painting works, Ramsay Ladders for providing the steps and of course life-long Forfar fan Geordie Davidson, for the all-important groundworks.
Following a call to supporters for shop fittings local retailers Charles Jarvis (Jarvis Brothers Forfar) and Jonathen Smith (Colin M Smith) generously provided a clothes rail and shelving. Last but not least many thanks to Martin Gray for being on hand to assist with all aspects of the work including putting up the new shop signage.
This has been a wonderful community effort and we are
most grateful for all of this support which has meant the new facility has
pretty much been set up at no cost. All those that helped with the set-up of
the shop were invited to a special reception prior to the launch night on
Friday where Chairman Alastair Donald expressed the club’s gratitude for this
generous support.
