Annan Athletic Fixture Postponed

Following the postponement of their William Hill Scottish Cup third round tie at Formartine United following a mid morning inspection, Forfar Athletic’s scheduled opponents next Saturday Annan Athletic will now be heading to Pitmedden on December 3rd for a second attempt to get the tie played.

This therefore means the fairly unsatisfactory loss of a home Saturday league game for the ‘Loons’ due entirely to a situation out with their control.

However the rules regarding the re-staging/replaying of ties at this stage of the competition which allow for a second Saturday attempt have been in place for some years and one just has to accept the situation and move on.

Apart of course from the fact that the Station Park first team squad will be inactive for a second successive Saturday, the club will have to accept the loss of a significant four figure sum in match sponsorship and hospitality  revenue as well as no doubt the fact that less fans will be enticed through the turnstiles for the midweek fixture.

No new date for the game is likely to be confirmed until the outcome of Annan’s cup tie is decided.
