Summary – The ‘Loons’ complete the first quarter of the league campaign with a visit to Dumbarton on Saturday first with both sides sitting on the ten-point mark in the league table.
Jim Weir will again see his resources stretched by injury. Dale Hilson and Andy Jackson remain sidelined while Scott Robertson is also a doubt, word awaited from parent club Hearts on Rory Currie’s situation.
However, despite the sickening extra-time winner conceded against Raith last week, the Athies staff and players would have taken heart from a display which showed great improvement in many an aspect.
Russell McLean and Archie McPhee recruited on the eve last week’s contest will again obviously feature against the ‘Sons’ although one would anticipate that little change will be made to the starting eleven.
Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy with the loan signing of Adam Frizzell from Kilmarnock on Monday has amazingly now recruited seventeen new faces to his squad since the end of last season, in fact only three of last Saturday’s matchday squad had appeared for the club last term.
Their home form has been patchy to date, only one win recorded, Clyde and Airdrie in recent weeks heading home with a three-point haul.
The ‘Loons’ picked up ten points from the four joists with the ‘Sons’ last season so will be travel hopeful of a continuation of that form on Saturday, prior to a one-week sabbatical due to International and Tunnocks Cup fixtures scheduled for next weekend.
