‘Loons’ manager Stuart Malcolm and club officials are delighted to be able to confirm that former St. Johnstone legend Steven Anderson has agreed to join the Station Park playing ranks having put pen to paper earlier today on a two-year deal.
Despite having offers from Championship and other League One outfits, the 34-year-old Dunfermline based defender has committed his future to the Athies.
The premature end to the 2019/20 season brought closure to a sixteen-year spell at McDiarmid Park for Steven during which he made nearly 400 appearances for the Perth club.
He of course famously scored their first goal in their historic 2-0 Scottish Cup final success over Dundee United in May of 2014, also earning the Man of the Match award in that contest.
Through this feat and the longevity of his service to the Saints, he attained legendary status with the McDiarmid Park support.
During his spell in the ‘Fair City’, Steven was club captain for a time and was awarded a testimonial during the 2014/15 season.
Over the past couple of campaigns, Steven had short spells on loan at Partick Thistle and more recently Raith Rovers.
