Isobel Enston

Many Forfar Athletic supporters will have been saddened to hear of the death this week in a Blairgowrie Care Home of Isobel Enston, the wife of a former Chairman of the club and a ‘Loons’ supporter for well over 40 years.
Isobel became heavily involved in club affairs when husband George later to become a Club Director, Vice Chairman then Chairman took over the reins of the Supporters Club in the mid to late seventies, going on to become a very ‘weel kent’ fact to many Forfarians as she ran the Angus Lottery/Club Shop and Office in East High Street for some considerable time.
During this period, George and Isobel also took a very young Ian McPhee into their home for a short spell as he settled into life working in the town alongside the start of his legendary career at the club.
She was then a very supportive Chairman’s wife during George’s four-year reign as Chairman of the club in the nineties.
Following George’s untimely death, Isobel continued her support of her beloved ‘Loons’ from a front-row stand seat at Station Park for many years till ill health took its toll.
At this sad time, the thoughts and sympathies of all at Station Park are extended to daughters Lesley and Fiona and their families.
Due to the current circumstances, the funeral will, of course, be private.
