Club Update

Forfar Athletic officials were delighted to receive the news from the SFA/SPFL Joint Response Group on Friday afternoon that swab testing of the management team and players on a twice-weekly basis once they returned to full training would no longer be a requirement at all levels below the Premiership.
Apart from the financial implications which had been well documented, it was quite frankly going to be a logistical nightmare at times for all part-time clubs.
Nevertheless, the ‘Loons’ board had all the necessary arrangements in place had the process become a ‘live’ necessity.
Moving forward the staff and players will require of course to be temperature checked on arrival at Station Park for training and matches.
All going well and having satisfied the SFA that other rigorous protocols are in place, the Station Park squad will return to training on September 1st with full contact training hopefully becoming a reality some seven/ten days later.
Stuart Malcolm has also pencilled in three friendly fixtures prior to our opening League Cup joust at Dens Park on October 6th.
These will all have to be ratified in time by the footballing authorities in consultation with government officials, but Lowland League side BSC Glasgow is provisionally arranged for a visit to Station Park on Saturday, September 19th, with an away fixture at Gayfield against Arbroath scheduled for Saturday the 26th of September.
Brechin City will then visit Station Park on Tuesday 29th September.
Hopefully, in time these games will be given the ‘green light.’
Whether spectators will be allowed access and what restrictions will be in place will be known it would appear no later than 14th September according to various sources.
The ‘Loons’ Directors are continuing to monitor the situation especially in regard to season ticket pricing/sales in the meantime.
