Cove Rangers v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Friday, 13 November 2020 11:00]
Cove Rangers and the ‘Loons’ meet for the second Saturday in a row at the Balmoral Stadium, this time in Betfred Cup action.
Both sides go into what is their last Group B fixture on the two-point mark with no chance obviously of qualification for the second round stage due at the end of the month.
However whoever comes out on top on Saturday whether it be over the ninety minutes or in a subsequent penalty shoot-out will guarantee themselves third spot in the final table behind Hibernian and Dundee, a with a small increase in their final payout from the sponsorship pot their reward.
The Athies injury problems have been well documented, so no need to repeat the detail. However, Daniel Scally could return having trained on Thursday evening.
That apart the matchday squad that travels north will be along similar lines to Tuesday past when two points were eventually secured from a slightly fortuitous 3-3 draw over ninety minutes against Brora.
Cove manager Paul Hartley made a few changes from last Saturday’s starting line-up for the midweek trip to Dens Park and he is again likely as is Stuart Malcolm to ‘shuffle the pack’ for tomorrow’ clash.
Certainly, the home side will be without Blair Yule and Terry Masson who both saw ‘red’ prior to the hour mark in the 3-0 defeat to James McPake’s side.
Duncan Williams will be the man in charge of the fixture.
