Manager Gary Irvine has further supplemented his squad by bringing in two youngsters from his former club Dundee Sam Fisher and Luke Strachan on a temporary transfer basis for the campaign ahead.
Sam a defender who celebrates his 20th birthday later in the month was with the Athies during the first half of last season, making nine starting appearances before returning to Dens Park in early January.
He hails from Tillicoultry and in fact, was a product of Alloa’s youth system before heading to Dundee.
Sam also had a short spell on loan at Lowland League East Kilbride.
Luke a 20-year-old midfield player is part of a famous footballing family and was born in Warwick, beginning his senior career with Peterborough United, during which time he had a spell on loan at non-league Stamford.
He moved north of the border to Dens Park at the start of the 2019/20 season and spent part of that campaign, pre covid on a temporary transfer to our near neighbours Brechin City.
Both players have taken part at some stage in Forfar’s pre-season campaign, in fact, they featured in a hastily arranged closed doors game last midweek against Peterhead which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Luke will be available for the visit of Montrose on Tuesday night, but disappointingly Sam will sit the game out as he serves a one-match ban carried forward following his sending off for two bookable offences in the ‘Loons’ final game of last season’s tournament up at Cove.
