Lucky Saturday for Loons Lotto Winner

Ahead of yesterday's match vs Cowdenbeath the winner of the Loons Lucky Lotto, Stephen Cormie, was presented with a commemorative cheque to mark the Lotto's first jackpot pay-out of £5,250. 

Amazingly Stephen also won the Forfar Athletic Supporters' Club 50/50 half-time draw at yesterday's match.

Earlier in the afternoon Stephen was accompanied by wife Gillian, daughter Jessica and son Callum to meet Chairman Scott Murdie, Manager Gary Irvine and Club Captain Ross Meechan. 

"I was amazed to find out I'd won," Stephen said. "In fact I was sleeping when the draw results came out! I've never won anything like this before but it is really a family prize as the numbers are all of our birthdays! And they've all spent the money a few times over already!  To win the half-time draw and the Loons getting three points with that amazing finish made the whole day really special."

Stephen played a handful of reserve games for the Loons in the early nineties and by coincidence scored his only goal against Cowdenbeath! His love for the Loons has been passed onto the rest of the family with son Callum also a season ticket holder and daughter Jessica has recently started to help out in the refreshment kiosk at matches. 

Chairman Scott Murdie congratulated Stephen. "Everyone at the Club is pleased to see Stephen win the jackpot especially as he is a lifelong supporter and has helped the Club off the field with some amazing cycle fundraising exploits in recent years," Scott said.

Scott also highlighted the importance of the Loons Lucky Lotto to Club funds. "The Lotto had been a critical part of our fundraising over the last year and a half and continues to be important with all the financial challenges we are still facing. It's great to see the jackpot won and also to report that almost £6,000 has been paid out in Lucky Dip prizes in addition to this main jackpot since the Lotto was launched in 2020. A huge thanks to everyone who plays the Lotto and hopefully Stephen's success will encourage others to take part and help the Club but also have the chance of a Lucky Dip or Jackpot win for themselves."
