Steven Doris calls it a day
[Tuesday, 11 January 2022 10:56]
‘Loons’ striker Steven Doris has decided to call time on his footballing career for the present and consequently has been released from his contract at Station Park.
The 33 year old Perth based player moved to the Athies from Arbroath exactly two years ago as part of the deal which saw Dale Hilson head to Gayfield.
Since then he has to endure a handful of niggling injuries as well as two truncated seasons and has struggled subsequently to attain full fitness.
During his spell with Forfar Steven made thirteen starting appearances as well as twenty-four from the bench, the last of those on Saturday past.
He only managed to find the net on one occasion.
Steven moves on with the best wishes of all at the club for his future.
Also leaving Station Park is midfield player Mark Gallagher whose temporary transfer from Aberdeen has been terminated by mutual consent.
Mark made seven starting appearances this term for the ‘Loons’ as well as nine from the bench, scoring a couple of goals in the process.
Again we wish Mark all the best for the future.
Gary Irvine and his management team are working feverishly behind the scenes to bolster the Forfar Athletic squad in the January registration window, never an easy task.
Once again in prevailing circumstances, clubs at our level will also be able to sign players from within Scotland on a temporary transfer during a specially extended period up to February 28th.
