Gary Irvine is delighted to confirm his first two close season captures with 25 year old Nathan Flanagan and 24 year old Ben Armour signing 12 month contracts
Nathan was regular in the Stirling Albion ranks last season making 31 appearances.
An attacking midfield player, he began his senior career with St. Mirren in 2016, spending periods while with the ‘Buddies’ on loan at Annan Athletic, East Fife and Elgin City.
From Paisley he headed to Raith Rovers for a two year spell, before moving back to Annan prior to joining the ‘Binos’ last summer.
Ben a striker commenced his senior career at Morton in 2017 and during a two year stint at Cappielow he enjoyed loan spells with Annan Athletic and Dumbarton.
He then moved north to Peterhead where he made thirty first team appearances during two covid affected seasons.
A move to Alloa beckoned a year back, but his first team opportunities were limited last term at the Indodrill Stadium.
In fact Forfar were keen to bring him on loan to Station Park back in February but changes behind the scenes at the ‘Wasps’ at the time saw that deal fail to materialise.
Gary is also delighted that goalkeeper Lewis Sanderson has agreed to extend his stay at Station Park for another season.
The young custodian got only one first team opportunity last term deputising for the covid struck Marc McCallum at Stenhousemuir in February.
With pre-season fixtures due to commence at the end of the month, the Forfar management team are actively looking to continue to boost squad numbers but like others are finding that certain potential targets as is often the case at this time of year are assessing all available options before making a final commitment.
