Double Signing Boost for ‘Loons’
[Friday, 13 January 2023 12:14]
There is good news on two fronts for all connected with the ‘Loons’ ahead of tomorrow’s home fixture with league leaders Dumbarton.
Firstly defender Mark Docherty will be a part of the Station Park playing squad for the remainder of the season.
Mark who spent the first half of the 2019/20 campaign with the Athies before heading at the time to Annan, returned earlier this season on loan from FC Edinburgh.
That temporary transfer arrangement came to an end following last weekend’s win at Galabank where Mark was the scorer of the visitors second goal.
However the Capital City outfit have now released Mark and he has subsequently signed a short term contract at Station Park until the end of the season.
The second piece of news which will please supporters is the fact that as Ray McKinnon far from resting on his laurels after the recent improved run of form, is also looking to the future.
In that regard the manager was delighted when at training last night, Craig Thomson put pen to paper on a one year extension to his current contract.
This means that Craig will be with the ‘Loons’ until at the very least June of 2024.
Craig who signed for Forfar in the summer of 2021, returned from injury a few weeks back and he has played an integral part in the recent revival and is of course a fans favourite.
As we move now well into the New Year a real double boost for management, officials and supporters alike.
A reminder that the current registration/transfer window closes on January 31st, but clubs at cinch league2 level still have special dispensation to sign players on a domestic loan arrangement throughout the month of February.
