Ray Completes Fifth January Signing

‘Loon’s’ manager Ray McKinnon is delighted to be able to confirm a fifth signing of the calendar year.
The latest addition to the Station Park squad is young Queens Park defender Max Gillies who has made the move to Forfar on a temporary transfer until the end of the current campaign.
Max who celebrated his 20th birthday on Christmas Day was an Academy product at both St. Mirren and Kilmarnock before joining the ‘Spiders’ in 2019 where of course he worked under Ray’s guidance during the 2020/21 season.
In the first half of the current season Max has been on loan up at Peterhead where he made fourteen starting appearances.
A warm welcome to Max who is the son of former St. Mirren and Aberdeen midfielder Ricky Gillies.
He is also following in the footsteps of his uncle Kenny Gillies who spent two seasons with the ‘Loons’ in the late nineties.
Ray is delighted to have brought in a handful of new and old faces in the transfer/registration windows to date, but is not resting on his laurels and he still hopes to add more depth to his squad before the various closures occur.
A reminder that internal temporary transfers between Scottish clubs are allowed up to the end of February.
Much of this signing business to date has been made possible by monies raised through the Player Pot scheme launched in Mid December.
The initial target that the board set for funding through the scheme has been achieved and a big thank you to those who have supported the initiative to date, but there is still an opportunity for businesses, supporters and friends of the club to make a contribution in the weeks ahead.
As stated previously any monies left over at this stage of the campaign will be utilised to augment the manager’s close season budget in the summer months.
