Pitch Inspection at Stirling
[Friday, 20 January 2023 16:27]
The SPFL, following discussions with Stirling Albion officials, have confirmed that a pitch inspection by a locally based referee will take place at 10a.m. on Saturday morning at the Forthbank Stadium.
Prospects are not rated highly with the playing surface currently frost bound and an overnight temperature forecast in the central belt of minus 3 degrees.
If postponed it would be the second time this fixture has ‘bit the dust,’ snow and ice on the surface the reason for the call off on the original match date back on December 17th.
The potential postponement will be a disappointment to Ray McKinnon and his players following their fine form over the past couple of weeks.
Latest signings Max Gillies would be an obvious addition to last weekend’s match day squad for the fixture, if by a miracle it is given the go ahead, though Stefan McCluskey would be an absentee as he is due to serve a one match ban for breaching the six caution rule in the first half of the season, following his yellow card against Elgin back on January 2nd.
Craig Slater remains a doubt while Darren Whyte and Tomas Brindley would be ruled out.
