Thank You

It was a great evening at Station Park last night for all of a Forfar Athletic persuasion with a third successive victory achieved in Group H of the Viaplay Cup.
The fact that two of the successes have come in local derbies has also certainly brought a smile to the fans faces.
Even the news of a late winner for St. Mirren at Central Park failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the home support who turned out in great number to back Stuart and his colleagues.
A big thank you to you all.
The atmosphere created from the stand and terracing was without doubt the best for many a day.
A special vote of thanks to all ‘Loons’ supporters and especially the substantial travelling band of ‘Red Lichties’ supporters for the respect that was shown to our late Chairman Neill Wilson and his wife Gill, the minutes silence prior to kick-off immaculately and movingly observed by all present.
Moving on to the position we now find ourselves in the group.
Following the ‘Buddies’ late winner at Cowdenbeath, we now head to Paisley on Saturday requiring a point to clinch the top spot in the table, no easy task against a side who finished sixth in the Premiership last season.
That scenario would see the ‘Loons’ qualify for the knock-out stage of the competition.
We are of course guaranteed to finish second but that is a fairly complicated equation.
Only the three best placed runners-up qualify for the last sixteen, with the five clubs who will represent Scotland in Europe this season also entering the tournament at this stage.
With four group stage games still to be played on Wednesday night and a full programme of sixteen fixtures due to be played over the weekend, by our reckoning there are still four other groups where a club could potentially finish in second spot but with a better record than the Athies come Sunday tea time as matters stand at present.
It is not possible in Groups B, F or G. However in Groups A, C, D and E without going into the complexities it is still a possibility.
All will be revealed over the coming weekend and all Forfar fans can ask for and on the evidence of the past couple of weeks will get, is another full blooded performance with much to admire from those who will wear the mint green shirts at SISMA Stadium on Saturday.
