Another ‘Loons’ Milestone for Marc

Belated congratulations to Marc McCallum on what was his 250th competitive appearance for the ‘Loons’ at Bayview on Saturday past.
Not to many players at our level reach this appearance milestone for their club nowadays, changed days it has to be said from the 1970/80’s when it was almost common place at Station Park.
That change in culture in the lower tiers of the Scottish game makes local lad Marc’s achievement all the more remarkable and praiseworthy.
It actually all began back in season 2011/12 season when Marc made his first eight appearances for the ‘Loons’ on loan from his then parent club Dundee United, the first of those games a 3-2 win over Stenhousemuir at Ochilview on 14th January, 2012.
Marc also had spells on loan while at Tannadice with Peterhead, Berwick Rangers, Arbroath and Livingston, before moving permanently to the West Lothian club in 2016.
A season down in Devon with Plymouth Argyle followed before he returned to his home town club in the summer of 2017.
Marc is therefore now in his seventh season as first choice keeper at Station Park, this commitment, not to mention consistency rare commodities indeed in modern day part time football.
As you will see from his career statistics with the ‘Loons’ listed in full below, Marc has been an ever present in three of his six full seasons to date. In fact had it not been for the two successive truncated campaigns due to covid, he would by now without doubt be within touching distance of the 300 appearance mark.
Match number 251 for Marc now a family man residing in Dundee will come against one of his former clubs Peterhead this Saturday when he can expect an especially warm welcome from the home support and hopefully his latest career milestone can be celebrated with a clean sheet and a win bonus!
