‘Loons’ appoint Joint Vice Chairmen
[Tuesday, 16 January 2024 11:09]
Following on from Alastair Donald stepping down last week from his role as Vice Chairman and a Director of the club, with the ever increasing work load and commitment required these days Forfar Athletic have on this occasion elevated two of their current board Paul Stephen and Paul Wilson to the role of Joint Vice Chairman.
It is worthy recognition for the work both have put in to club affairs in recent times.
Paul Stephen was appointed a Director in the summer of 2018. The Glamis based Architect had in fact played a prominent part for the club prior to that on a few occasions, notably when working alongside Neill Wilson on the Hospitality Complex project.
Since joining the Board, Paul’s acumen in that regard saw him mastermind not only the installation of the replacement 3G surface at Station Park in the summer of 2022, but also deal with all the financial complexities that surrounded the project. Paul also co-ordinated the floodlighting upgrade project which was completed during the past close-season.
He was also in his earlier days heavily involved with the at the time the then named Station Park Community Trust and setting the Trust up as a registered charity as well as many other facets of boardroom life in general.
Paul Wilson joined the board just over two years ago. Like his fellow Vice Chairman he also works in the Architectural industry currently Housing Projects Team Leader with Angus Council, though he did previously have his own successful Architectural business in the town.
A fan of the club since his schooldays, in fact he was Martin Gray’s right hand man as far as the kit man job was concerned when still a pupil at Forfar Academy. In more recent times Paul was heavily involved at Strathmore Rugby Club as both Vice President and a coach while his son was playing for the Inchmacoble outfit, but he jumped at the opportunity in late 2021 to return to his ‘roots’ so to speak and take up a position on the ‘Loons’ board.
Since then Paul has put a power of work in to many fund raising ventures at the club, overseeing the media output, as well as representing the ‘Loons’ on the management committee of The Forfar Community Football Trust.
Chairman Scott Murdie is delighted as are their board room colleagues that the two Paul’s have moved up the ‘ladder’ so to speak behind the scenes, due reward for their efforts on the ‘Loons’ behalf which will no doubt continue apace.
