This coming Saturday former Forfar Athletic goalkeeper Sean Murdoch recently appointed as a Class I Development Referee by the SFA will handle his first SPFL fixture when he takes charge of the The Spartans v Clyde cinch league2 clash at Ainslie Park.
Sean will become one of the very few ex senior players in the Scottish game, in fact they do not even number a handful to have played the game at senior level and then subsequently reach this standard as a match official.
In fact Sean is far and away the most experienced player to have made the role change in the game having made well over 200 first team appearances for Dunfermline Athletic, Hibernian, Hamilton Accies and the ‘Loons’ in this country, Accrington Stanley south of the border and the Rochester Rhinos in the USL.
Sean a highly popular custodian in his time at Station Park made 33 first team appearances during two loan spells from Dunfermline in the 2005/6 and 2006/7 season.
Now at 37 years of age he embarks on the next stage of his new career in the game and all at Station Park wish him well in that task.
