Forfar played out a goalless draw against Bonnyrigg Rose.
The first half was typically scrappy affair but both sides had early chances from free kicks. Lee Currie fired over for the visitors and Tyler Mykyta put his inches wide of the post.
Forfar felt they should have had a penalty in the 7th minute when Matty Allan’s cross struck the arm of Currie in the box, however the referee was unmoved.
Stuart Morrison came closest for the Loons in the first half. He got on the end of Russell McLean’s knockdown however his strike went just the wrong side of the post.
Bradley Barrett forced Marc McCallum in to a good save at the other end.
The visitors were better in the second half but it was Forfar who almost gifted Bonnyrigg the lead. A defensive mix up had everybody panicking but Adam Hutchinson was able to put the ball narrowly past his own post and out for a corner.
The introduction of Josh Skelly and Craig Thomson breathed some life in to the game and it was Skelly who had a hand in creating the next chance. Seb Ross did well and bounced the ball off the front man before finding McLean. His shot was well saved and the Loons couldn’t scramble in the rebound.
Substitute Smart Osadolor was at the centre of things for the Rose. He forced McCallum in to a couple of clever quick fire stops before passing up a glorious opportunity to win the game when Barret’s cross found him in the box. He failed to connect and the ball went behind for a goal kick.
The Loons almost stole the points with a last gasp counter. Rayan Mohammed led the charge before finding Thomson, his shot went agonisingly the wrong side of the post.
That chance turned out to be the last kick of the game, the point moves Forfar closer to Stranraer and extends the gap to Elgin to three points.
Next week will see our fourth successive home game. The Spartans are the visitors this time out.
