Manager Ray McKinnon is delighted to have secured the services of Daniel Scally till the end of the current season. Daniel of course had a previous spell with the club during the 2020/21 season.
That was sadly one of two seasons severely restricted due to covid, beginning as it did in October, then following a ten week cessation from early January to mid March, resumed until mid May, the end product for all at Station Park as far as league football was concerned, relegation to the fourth tier.
In that truncated campaign, the ‘Loons’ played twenty eight competitive games in league and cup, Daniel having a starting berth in sixteen of them as well as coming off the bench on two occasions.
The player who is equally at home in midfield or up front netted on four occasions.
Of course club officials and few covid volunteers apart, when Daniel makes his first Forfar appearance second time round, it will also be the first time the Athies faithful fans will have seen him ‘in the flesh’ as no spectators were allowed entry throughout his pevious stint as strict restrictions on the lives of all in those dark days were enforced.
Born in Glasgow, Daniel was a product of the St. Mirren youth set-up before joining Kilmarnock in 2017 as a seventeen year old.
He went on to spend a fruitful season at Albion Rovers before Stuart Malcolm persuaded him to move to Station Park in August of 2020.
At the end of his stint with the Athies he made the move to Stirling Albion prior to heading to the American mid west to ply his trade with Northern Colorada Hailstorm who play in the third tier of the USA soccer pyramid.
International clearance has been received through the appropriate channels and Daniel is looking forward to assisting Forfar Athletic climb the league table in the remainder of the campaign.
Let’s give Daniel a warm welcome back to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park.
