Forfar Athletic 3 Peterhead 3

Forfar and Peterhead played out a textbook game of two halves in an entertaining clash.
Peterhead started well and had a golden opportunity to take the lead after ten minutes when Rory McAllister found Kieran Shanks but Marc McCallum produced a brilliant stop to keep the scores level.
It didn’t take long for Forfar to break the deadlock, a long ball broke kindly for Russell McLean and he instinctively slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Forfar were boosted and continued to exert pressure with Peterhead keeper Stuart McKenzie twice making good stops to deny McLean his second.
The second goal did come after 37 minutes. Tyler Mykyta did brilliantly on the wing and crossed for Stuart Morrison who knocked in through the legs of a defender.
An excellent first half was rounded off when Tomas Brindley crossed for McLean and he stopped to head in at the front post.
The second half was a different game and Peterhead quickly reduced the arrears when McAllister converted a cross from close range.
The Blue Toon lifted their game and passed up chances when Peter Pawlett’s shot was saved and McAllister’s header came back off the bar.
Forfar should have wrapped up the points after 78 minutes when McLean back-heeled Craig Thomson through on goal, however, he miss-controlled and McKenzie gathered.
The Loons were left to rue the missed opportunity just a minute later when Flynn Duffy arrowed a header in to the bottom corner.
Peterhead were pushing and, with the home fans clamouring for the final whistle, found the equaliser in the 96th minute when substitute Alfie Stewart was found in acres of space in the box and he knocked into the corner.
The result is a painful one for the Loons, having been in such a commanding position, however, Andy and the boys must dust themselves off for a big clash with Clyde in Hamilton on Tuesday.
