Forfar Athletic 1 Stenhousemuir 1

Forfar extended their unbeaten league run to ten matches with a hard-fought point against league leaders Stenhousemuir.
On paper, a match against the champions-elect and the league’s form side should have been a classic, however, on plastic the result was far different, with a midfield battle rarely sparking any chances.
Despite the ugliness of the contest, Forfar started brightly and carved out a couple of early opportunities. Some quick feet from Finlay Allan presented an opportunity but his shot was blocked before Andy Munro reacted to Darren Jamieson spilling a corner but he was again crowded out.
It came ever so slightly against the run of play when Stenny got the opener. Euan O’Reilly did well to deliver a ball that was flicked on by Matty Yates and James Berry had the easiest of tasks to tap in at the back post.
Wedderburn and Yates fired well off target for the visitors before the break whilst Russell McLean spurned the Loon's best opportunity with a tame shot that was held by Jamieson.
The second half was a similar midfield battle with chances few and far between.
Stenny kept their noses in front until the 85th minute when Kieran Inglis was scythed down on the corner of the box. The midfielder dusted himself down and whipped in a beauty of a ball for Adam Hutchinson who tapped in his first Forfar goal.
A draw definitely looked like a fair result but Stenny weren’t content with their point and almost found a winner in the 88th minute. Nicky Jamieson had too much space in the box from a corner but he headed over from close range.
The point extends Forfar’s unbeaten run to ten league matches. The Loons last tasted defeat on league duty when they faced today’s visitors at Ochilview on January 6th.
