PLEASE NOTE that there are roadworks ongoing at Market Street which is currently closed from it’s entrance at the Brechin Road end and across North Street. As a consequence of this there will be no access to Carseview Road from Market Street over the weekend of the 24th August, however access will be available from Suttieside Road. We would ask that you please bear this in mind if you are travelling to Station Park by car tomorrow.

1984 Lounge
The 1984 Lounge at the ground will be open to supporters from 12.30pm. to 2.50pm. The lounge will re-open again on the final whistle till approximately 8pm.

The Refreshment Kiosk and Club Shop will be open as usual at the fixture.

50/50 tickets will be on sale from vendors within the ground and pre-match in the 1984 Lounge.

PREVIEW

The ‘Loons’ return home on Saturday following a trio of away games, Edinburgh City the opponents, the ‘Citizens’ first visit to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park since January of 2022.

That particular fixture was played on a Monday evening in January after the game had become one of the very few games at Forfar in living memory to be have been postponed due to high winds 48 hours before. City incidentally ran out 3-2 winners on the night, no repeat required tomorrow!

The home side go into the clash on the back of three defeats in league and cup competitions, late goals in two of those contests in particular proving costly. Manager Ray McKinnon though has been pleased with the overall performances to date this campaign despite having on occasions limited squad numbers wise to call upon. There is little doubt that with a little ‘rub of the green’ a few more points could have been accrued, though others will debate that assertion.

Ray is looking for no less than a victory from Saturday’s contest against another of the four sides currently sitting on the one point mark after the opening trio of fixtures in the William Hill League2.

On the player availability front, both Keiran Inglis and Blair Malcolm who sat out the game at Bayview last weekend through injury returned to training on Thursday evening and hopefully there will be no adverse reaction. If that is the case long term injury victim Jackson Mylchreest apart, the home management team should have a full squad to choose from.

City having finished rock bottom of League1 last term, their plight not helped by a six point deduction in January have a totally new look squad this term, signing number seventeen of a busy summer coming earlier in the week with the acquisition from Bonnyrigg Rose whom they drew 2-2 against seven days back, in the shape of defender Josh Grigor.

The Capital City side are managed by Edinburgh born Michael McIndoe who took over the reins ten months back following a playing career that amazingly saw him make nearly 500 appearances for a host of English League outfits.

As ever it will no doubt be a hard fought ninety minutes ahead with Ray admitting that the visitors are a bit of unknown quantity. They have however received reports and watched footage of City’s recent performances and will set their starting eleven out with every intention of gaining the upper hand aided by the support of the home faithful from the first whistle.

The match is the first of two successive home games for the Athies, Elgin City the visitors to the ‘toonie’ on the final day of August month.
