JON & SAM’S STORY
[Wednesday, 25 September 2024 11:59]
Loons’ officials were truly honoured to welcome Jon Attenborough to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday.
Jon is a lifelong Scottish football fan who has had a visual impairment since birth. Jon has no sight in his right eye and has limited sight in his left eye.
Accompanied by his guide dog Sam, with whom he was partnered in 2018, Jon has been attending football matches all over Scotland. In early 2022, Jon and Sam began their challenge to attend all 42 Scottish football league grounds.
Jon and Sam completed their challenge on Saturday, ticking off our very own Station Park as their 42nd ground, by attending our 2-1 home victory over Stranraer. The SPFL were in attendance with us on Saturday, presenting Jon with a special award and Sam with his very own medal! Jon and Sam are now the first ever person and dog duo to complete ‘the 42’.
The pair have travelled to all 42 grounds by public transport, usually by train.
We understand that Jon specifically chose Station Park as the final destination of their challenge, as Forfar is home to a Guide Dogs Scotland training school, of which our town is rightly very proud.
